Agenda

Old business

Bag tag update

Season is finished. Wesley said he would do it again next year. Mark makes a motion to separate ourselves from the league. John will talk with Wesley to ensure he knows that if he needs money from the club, he needs to have a budget presented.

Cuoio Park

John went out there and there were 2 holes that needed to be marked better. Phone GPS coordinates are proving to not be sufficient. John got it sorted out with the contractors to make sure they understand our challenges with using GPS. An arborist came out and started looking at the 25 trees that can be removed. John marked the bare minimum trees to be removed which came out to 35 trees and they approved. Still on schedule for spring time to start the heavy work. 3x12 feet will be cleared based on the agreed areas to clear. John hopes they have a better understanding of how course design should flow now.

John had a meeting with Innova and Parks regarding naming rights. They are willing to sponsor all the baskets if it is named Innova Disc Golf Course at Cuoio Park, in perpetuity. They only require that we don’t cover up their name on the baskets, but we are allowed to run events sponsored by other manufacturers. It will end up being a $10k donation which is almost unprecedented for Innova.

Once the weather becomes dryer, work will start, starting with the parking lot and service road. And then people will have a place to park to volunteer at the park.

Rick wants to track $10000 benches for Cuoio

Team golf

People who have shown interest:

John, Mark, GPD, Josh (backup), Jeff Fasteen, Dave, Randall Roberts, Matt and Allison Crane, Chuck Peterson, Josh Heideman, Greg Brooks, Thad Tenkley.

Board members have first right of refusal, so once elections are determined, then the final team golf roster can be set.

John makes a motion to volunteer the club to cover the course cost for Evergreen - $175. Motion passes.

Elections

In November, we will have a live vote at the next club meeting, and we will determine the date in the next couple of weeks. Nominations are open now. We have 5 positions and John nominates the current board. All board members have agreed.

New business

State of doubles at Evergreen

We need someone to run it. There are few people who are interested and willing (when able). But we do not have anyone on a consistent basis.

Dave said he can commit to half time and sometimes even 3 times a month. Dave also mentioned he could possibly do glow golf at WCP occasionally (once a month).

Turf tee pad harvesting

First weekend of November (2-3) we are planning to harvest a bunch of tee pad material, hopefully enough for 200 tee pads. Please come if you are able. Matt van Dusen and Steve Pierce will handle machines onSaturday and Rob on Sunday. It will happen at Stan Headwall in Chehalis.

2024 Events

Woodland Creek Classic Recap

https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/84313 Results here. Trophies arrived last week and Mark delivered at Doug Newland.

Rick requests weddings not be held during tournaments, but it begs the question if we need to change the hole.

Plans are underway for 2025.

Odus Fall Open - Recap

Crowned a bunch of champions, it was a different format. Feedback was mixed so it is uncertain if it will be the same next year. John plans to still host a B-tier next year.

Saturday Mornings at Evergreen updates

Averaging 16 people. Funds are going towards next year’s B tier at Delphi.

Course Updates and ongoing work

Woodland Creek

Hole 8 has a big alder that looks dead and likely will come down this winter. Hole 2 will get soggy again, Jules had mentioned a plan for that. Rick proposes having Parks trim the grass between 1 & 9 and John mentioned that they had planned to, but it wouldn’t have happened in time for our needs. Couple tee posts that need some attention, hole 3 for example. Rick will handle replacing them, thank you Rick.

Delphi

Stump hole will not be a stump hole anymore. New tee sign is designed and will be ordered soon.

Evergreen State college

Looks and plays well. Bryce Winkleman is our contact.

Evergreen Sportsmen's Club

Course progress is on hold so we aren’t spending more money when we have more important initiatives.

Cuoio Park
